Grundig took a technical step when the Stallit 208 was introduced in 1968, the new set was a double conversion superhet, in the now vertically oriented turret tuner, two band ranges were covered.

===== Operation =====
In contrast to the earlier [[Satellit 205]], the Satellit 208 and [[Satellit 210|210]] have a double conversion design, the improved set also covers the 13- and 11-m broadcast bands. With the SW Band-Spread button, it is possible to switch from general coverage (for example 5-7.7 MHz) to a bandspread (5.95 - 6.25 MHz) range in each section of the turret tuner. The [[BFO]] no longer needs to be fitted inside the cabinet, the external [[BFO]] is connected to an accessories socket with a cable.

The Grundig Satellit 208, international designation Transistor 6000, with its dimensions of 44 x 26 x 12 cm and a weight 6.7 kg is portable, in the strict sense of the expression. The power supply unit is located inside the cabinet, the receiver can alternatively be operated from batteries.

The dial for FM, LW, MW and KW1 with the tropical band ranges is mounted on the right side of the front panel, to the left of it, the dial of the turret tuner for the spread shortwave bands and the general coverage ranges that cover the out-of-band frequencies. At the right edge, one above the other, the on/off switch, the battery/field strength meter, the fine tuning control for SW band 1 and the tuning knob are located.

The volume control, the separate bass and treble tone controls, an antenna trimmer, the switch for the shortwave band spread and activation of the tweeter speaker are located on the top edge of the radio underneath the carrying handle. Behind the "bar" with these controls, the push-buttons for range selection and PU operation are now also mounted on the top of the unit.

The double conversion superhet tunes in the major international foreign services without problems. The frequency can be set with an accuracy of 10 - 20 kHz in the bandspread ranges, in the general coverage ranges the frequency can only be roughly estimated. For station identification the interval signal and spoken identification of the station must be used. The capability of tuning a known frequency is insufficient, small coloured plastic tabs sliding on a bar to mark locations of known station are of little help.

SSB reception is only possible with the optional external [[BFO]], with some loss of frequency stability; in contrast to the [[Satellit 205]], the SSB unit is no longer built in, but it is plugged into a socket on the rear panel.
