====== Travel portables from Sangean ====== Manufactured by Sangean, Chung Ho City, Taipei Hsien 235, Taiwan. The Taiwanese manufacturer Sangean first attracted attention with small travel radios in analogue technology, which were sold worldwideby large electronics discounters under various brand names. In Europe, many shortwave listeners first became aware of Sangean through the receivers offered under the Siemens label. After Siemens had withdrawn from the home electronics sector a few years later, the receivers were offered under Sangean's own brand name. As one of the most popular successors of the Sony ICF-2001, Sangean launched the ATS-803 in a similar format, which outpaced it's ancestor with an LED chain acting as field strength meter, clock functions and especially in the improved version with two switchable IF filters. Among the travel receivers with double conversion technology which followed, the ATS-818CS with its integrated cassette recorder stood out, a really excellent set was the ATS-909 which was equally sensitive and selective. It featured not only had a big number of memories with the possibility of alphanumeric labewlling, but could also display the RDS station information on VHF. In an improved version, it's still sold in 2021 and one of the very few shortwave portables not coming from PR China. ===== Travel portables from Sangean ===== |SG-792L / Supertech SR-9|1988|Single Conversion|VHF, LW, MW, SW x 6 (49-19 m)|Analogue display; variant SG-792AL covers the Air band up to 135 MHz| | |SG-789 / Siemens RK 621|approx. 1988|Single Conversion|VHF, LW, MW, SW x 7 (49 - 13m)|Analogue display| | |ATS-801|1988|Single Conversion|VHF, LW, MW, SW|Digital display|| |ATS-803 / Supertech SR-16H / Siemens RK 641|ca. 1985|Double Conversion|VHF, LW, MW, SW (150 kHz - 29.999 MHz)|Digital display, direct frequency input, 9 memories, clock/timer|| |ATS-803A / ESKA 33 / Siemens RK 651|1988|Double Conversion|VHF, LW, MW; SW (150 kHz - 29,999 MHz)|improved version with 2 bandwidths 6,8/2,8 kHz, direct frequency input, 9 memories, clock/timer || |ATS-818 / Realistic DX-390 / Siemens RK 665 / RK 765|ca. 1992|Double Conversion|VHF, LW, MW, SW (1.6 - 30 MHz)|Digital display, 1 kHz steps, direct frequency input, 45 memories, clock/timer|| |ATS-808A / Siemens RK 661|1989|Double Conversion|VHF, LW, MW, SW (1,6 - 30 MHz)|Digital display, 1 kHz steps, direct frequency input, 45 memories, clock/timer|| |ATS-800A / Siemens RP-647 G4|1992|Single Conversion|VHF, MW, SW (3.2 - 7.3 / 9.5 - 21.75 MHz)|Digital display, 20 memories, clock/timer|| |ATS-606 / Siemens RK 659|ca. 1992|Double Conversion|VHF, AM (153 - 29995 kHz)|Digital display, 1 kHz steps, direct frequency input, 54 memories, clock/timer|| |ATS-606A / Siemens RK 759|1995|Double conversion|VHF, AM (153 - 29995 kHz)|Digital display, 1 kHz steps, direct frequency input, 54 memories, clock/timer|| |ATS-303|1995|Single Conversion|VHF, AM (2.3-7.3 / 9.5-26.1 MHz)|Digital display, 20 memories, clock/timer|| |ATS-909 / Radio Shack DX-398 / Siemens RK 777|1996|Double Conversion|VHF, LW, MW, SW x 2 (1,6 - 30 MHz)|Digital display, 100 Hz steps, direct frequency input, 306 memories, clock/timer, scan functions|| |ATS-202|1995/1998|Single Conversion|VHF, MW, SW x 2 (2,3-7,3 / 9,5-26,1 MHz)|Digital display, 20 memories, clock/timer| | ===== World receiver with cassette recorder ===== |ATS-818CS / Realistic DX-392 / Siemens RK 670 / RK 770|1992|Double Conversion|VHF, LW, MW, SW (1.6 - 30 MHz)|Digital display, 1 kHz steps, direct frequency input, 45 memories, clock/timer, mono cassette recorder||
