Operation

The EB 100 Miniport receiver is a robust, compact surveillance receiver that can also be used for near-field detection of „bugs“ and covers the VHF/UHF ranges from 20 - 1000 MHz.

The receiver is housed in a robust die-cast case and can be powered by a 6 V battery which is inserted into the bottom of the set. With a fully charged 3 Ah battery, at a consumption of 560 mA a mains-independent operation of more then 4 hours is possible. With the external mains supply and battery charger, buffer operation is possible with the built-in battery. When the battery is inserted, the voltage of the built-in 6 V battery can be checked by pressing the battery button.

After a moment (and a self-test, during which dots or double dots are displayed) the display jumps to the last working frequency and you can tune manually with the rotary knob on the right narrow side (which can be blocked electronically).

Rohde & Schwarz EB 100 The desired frequency can be entered with the numeric keys, subsequent zeros are automatically added for frequencies below 200 MHz. From a frequency called from memory, you can go directly to search reception with the tuning knob.

The operation mode can be set to amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM). Of the three bandwidths 7.5, 15 and 150 kHz, the first two are usually used for narrowband FM and AM reception (e.g. aircraft radio) and the last one for FM broadcast band reception.

The receiver has a muting circuit SQUELCH, which is deactivated in position - 10 dB, the squelch can be adjusted in steps up to 40 dB. For near-field direction finding, the receiver has a - 40 dB attenuator; the level tone function can also be activated for this purpose. A whistling tone becomes higher as the HF level rises, making it easier to detect a mini transmitter or a „bug“.

With STO and two numeric keys, a frequency can be stored in one of the thirty memories and recalled with RCL and the same numeric keys.

With the Shift key and MEM SC the memory search can be activated, with Shift and F START and F STOP you define the limits for the search within a band section. The tuning step size can be entered in kHz with Shift SW.

Technical principle

Double conversion superhet with a high first IF and a second IF of 10.7 MHz, a level meter can be connected to the output.

Components

The set is solid state.
